2008
This year we provided unit for ITV
Productions and their production Martin Clunes: A man and
his dogs (see testimonials) and had a great time traversing
the outback shooting dingoes (with a camera of course) The crew
were great and so was Martin who took the heat and flies in his
stride, even when we had to shoot at the local rubbish tip!
Another UK crew arrived in March, this
time from BBC 4 and their renowned Natural History Unit. ASFTV supplied
a small unit and Location fixed this 1 X 60 minute documentary on
Central Australia The Red Heart to screen later this
year (also see testimonials)
2007
Unit highlights in 2007 included unit
management for a Honda Japan stills campaign. This involved the
all-japanese crew working in extreme heat at our Rainbow Valley
location. All were safely looked after by our Drivers and unit,
including our unit nurse.
Weve spent 8 days looking after
National Geographic Magazine West of Alice Springs for the July
08 edition.
Not only do we supply the normal comforts but our unit includes
an EPIRB, satellite phone, Flying Doctor radio, first aid kits and
remote power.
2006
We started off the year with BBC TV
and acclaimed Entertainer and Artist Rolf Harris down at Ayer's
Rock/Uluru. ASFTV supplied remote support for the production including
a solar-powered production trailer, shade structures, seating, water
and, most importantly, a large car fridge/freezer in the 40 degree
plus (celsius) conditions!
March/April saw us supply a remote
unit to make life bearable (and safe) for cast and crew on a Flashpoint
Films music video production for Japanese hip-hop/reggae band
Ketsumeishi.
We also provided unit support for cast
and crew on a K Mart TVC and catalogue campaign for Cummins and
Partners Agency, Melbourne.
We spent 3 weeks travelling the desert
with the cast and crew of Lonely Planet Televisions Going
Bush documentary series for SBS TV. ASFTV supplied personnel,
full catering, camp and emergency equipment for this challenging
desert exercise. Presenters Cathy Freeman (star of the Sydney 2000
Olympics) and Actor Luke Carrol were true professionals and a pleasure
to work with.
We completed the year supplying remote
unit to renowned London Agency Dewynters PLC on a week-long photoshoot
for the Royal Ballet, providing Location scouting and Production
Management in Australia for their world-class stills campaign designed
for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
2005
ASFTV went out on a spider-hunt
in the desert west of Alice Springs with the National Geographic
Television production of Tarantula.
Yes, theyre big, hairy, dangerous and extremely ugly
and
that was just the camera crew! Alice Springs Film and Television
supplied all remote unit support for the solar-powered base camp
including vehicles, bedding, catering and mains battery-charging
capabilities for the cameras, sound gear and scientific instruments
(and of course
the fridge!)
SOME PREVIOUS PROJECTS
Chris Tangey is no stranger to logistics
on a grand scale either. He also came up with the original concept
for the biggest single event of Australias 2001 Centenary
of Nationhood, Yeperenye Festival. In fact, he was to be awarded
the Centenary Medal for his work in April 2003 by Australias
Federal government for services to Australias Centenary
Celebrations.
The National Council for the Centenary
of Federation appointed Chris Logistics Manager for this spectacular
$3.2 million event, working side by side most of the key personnel
from the Sydney 2000 Olympics Opening Ceremony . His overall responsibilities
included International and national media, VIPs, Host broadcaster
liaison, security, power generation, water and toilets, food supplies,
camping and catering for 7 days for 4000 performers, public transport,
lighting and even equipment transport which involved truck, rail
and both the USAF and the RAAF.
If we can handle all that we should
be able to handle your Feature film, TV series, TVC, documentary
production or remote event!
In 1999-2000 Chris was Associate Producer
and Researcher on the hour long, ground-breaking scientific documentary
Redstorm for National Geographic Channel International.
It was shot around Australia and New Zealand in a huge logistical
exercise and has been shown worldwide in 130 countries.
Need a Bell jet ranger with mounts
(or several?), a 1000 horses and riders, generators, toilets, catering,
transport
all of the above. No matter how big or small your
shoot/event, ASFTV can organize it.
